OK, now we can fight!
I am sitting beneath some real guilt feelings over how little I've posted of late. But it's all beyond my control. Tomorrow, or rather later today, I have to go to London for 48 hrs, and the thought of posting will be even more theoretical.
But, having been given a spare few minutes here, I've thought of what I most urgently want to say. And at this moment it is this: so much of Stereolab's music is so very beautiful.
True, they're not so great at matching the prosody of their lyrics to the rhythm of their music. (In English, that is; Sadier is vastly better at this when her texts are in French, as they so often are. But then, poetry is easy in French.) But their music can be so wonderful that I don't care. As I've typed these words, I've been listening over and over to "Wow and Flutter", both the Mars Audiac Quintet and Oscillons from the Anti-Sun versions. Pure throwaway pop, and beautiful. Go and have a listen yourself.
And when you're done, go leave Jon a word of encouragement. He's moving house, and my if that isn't a bugger.
