Yo, ho... no

Ah well, it was a lovely dream while it lasted. St Pauli have just conceded the DFB Cup semifinal to FC Bayern. It was just how I would have wished; Bayern won, but only just, and with difficulty. (Don't let the 0:3 score fool you; after an early Hargreaves goal, Pauli were much better for most of the match, rocketing Kahn again and again, until late goals in the 85th and 89th minutes decided things.)

Fair play to Pauli, from the northern regional league, who slew four big fat Bundesliga Bs (Burghausen, Bochum, Berlin, Bremen) before stumbling on the fifth.

The really important thing to take away from all this, of course, is that tonight's result guarantees Eintracht Frankfurt an UEFA Cup slot next season.
