Sample Christmas menu

So anyway, here's what we dished up on the 25th.

1.   Les amuses-Gosch

Devils on Horseback
Champagne

2.    L'entraille

Foie gras d’oie truffé
Sauternes

3.    The usual thing

Roast goose stuffed with apples, chestnuts and brandy-soaked raisins
Cooked-potato dumplings
Red cabbage with apples and cloves
Vino nobile di Montepulciano

4.    The hot and the cold

Pecan pie with vanilla ice cream
Flaming pud with hot vanilla custard
A shot of Kirschwasser

5.    The corpse of milk

Stilton; Küssnachter; runny stinking Camembert
Tawny port

Just a few more days, and we should have that digested. Very gratifying, but perhaps it's for the best it comes but once a year.

God, I'm not surprised you couldn't post until today! Would you have a more detailed recipe for your goose? We also had roast goose with red cabbage, but with a less elaborate stuffing of apples, sultanas, and cinnamon.

And someone gave us a bottle of 1983 Chateau Sudireaut. Thanks, mum.
