But if I didn't ever have a heart, would I turn around and break it?
Sitting at a table, my mouse is in my hand. And Alphabitch has left a link in my comments box, so I follow it and find one of those internet quiz things. Only this one promises to answer a question that really has haunted me lo these many years: which '70s glam icon am I? But jeez, this result sure as hell blindsided me:

You're Lou Reed.
God, you are cool, can I touch you so the magic will rub off?
You are perceptive, witty, and badass. You wear cool shades, even at night, and probably wear
black more than most people. You don't give a fuck what other people think, but you are also
very sensitive in the way that you pick up on things that others don't.
Sometimes you come off as an asshole, but that's what makes you cool.
You are a poet, and you embody New York City. You will still be hip when you are old, and artists love you.
Which rad old school 70's glam icon are you?
brought to you by Quizilla
Never in a million years would I have guessed that I'd turn out to be Lewis 'Lou Reed' Firbank. Not that being Lou is a bad thing. Far from it! My great fear, see, was that I'd be Bryan Ferry. (NB: I don't even know whether Ferry is one of the the quiz's options.) Now, Ferry is not what I'd've wished for; but when despairing honesty grips me in the sleepless still small hours, Ferry is what I would have said. But my quiz responses were evaluated by A Computer, so the results must be correct; imagine my relief!

I sneer at you from my persona as Iggy Pop. No one who ever knew me in the years when I covered the Church of England's General Synod would ever mistake me for anyone else. Truly, computers know everything.

Had I proved to be Ferry your sneers would be entirely justified. As Reed, however, I'm afraid I'm going to have to kick your scrawny midwestern ass.

Can I touch you so the magic will rub off?
(Am also Lou Reed, but I've a suspicion neither Ferry nor Marc Bolan were available.)

Bolan is, at least.

I'm... David Johansen? Well, he was a cool guy.
