There's this guy. His name is god. He lives in the sky. He had a son named Hay soos by a virgin named Mary.
You believe this claptrap?

In fact I do, or at any rate something like it. You haven't got the son's name quite right, and I don't know where you got the idea that God lives in the sky.

Hay soos = Jesus (pronounced with a Spanish accent, spelled like it sounds, sort of Dr. Suess-like.)
The Judeo-Christian-Muslim image of god is that it's MALE, it's HUMANLIKE and it lives in a place called HEAVEN, that's up in the SKY.
The abrahamic religions are guy-in-the-sky religions, as opposed to Buddhism/Hinduism/pantheism that sees God as imminent in the natural world.
Get it? I doubt it. You hang out with some pretty lame-brained company over at Crooked Timber.

Deb,
thanks for pointing out how Spanish speakers sort of pronounce 'Jesus'. Thanks also for your interesting views about Judaeo-Christian-Islamic theology.
The word you are looking for, BTW, is 'immanent'.
Good luck now!
