Shameless appeal

Deutsche Welle are running a competition that honours The Best Blogs in a number of categories. Which blogs are 'best' will be decided through a dual track expert jury/online voting process melding all that's best in pointy-headed quasi-énarquiste elitism with the rough popular democracy of the grunting mob. The prizes, for reasons known perhaps only to Deutsche Welle, are called 'The Bobs'.

The first part of the process is the suggestion phase, and I'd like you all to pop over to the DW site right now and suggest A Fistful of Euros, the smartest (and smartest-looking!) website on Eurostuff in the whole wide blogiverse. To make this easy for you, I've put this thing here just below, on which you may click:

The BOBs - BEST OF THE BLOGS - Deutsche Welle International Weblog Awards 2004

You can suggest websites through 17 October. So far as I can tell, this 'suggestion phase' is a bit like the American primaries, and the 'real' voting starts in November.

I will admit that I have already suggested afoe myself in a few categories, but multiple suggestions are permitted and, according to the DW site, will play a small role in the expert jury's decision-making. So suggest early and suggest often. Think of it this way: if afoe doesn't win, Little Green Footballs could.

"Bobs" = "BOBs" = "Best Of Blogs"?

Yes, that's all too likely. I had been hoping it was an obscure reference to somebody importnat in the development of bloggery. ('Robert von Misthaufen (Prussian, 1821-1872). Invented a method of interactive journalism connecting writings by different authors by means of pneumatic tubes and steam pistons.')
