Paging Dr Frankenstein
Well, PZ Myers is on a roll: this is the second very cool thing I've found on his site in less than half a day.
It's a super quick 'n easy method of extracting DNA, using stuff you'll find around the house. One downside: you need to start with about a half cup of raw material (the site suggests split peas). So you won't be using this to extract your own DNA, unless you don't mind gouging a good-sized chunk out of your thigh.
